What velai is
The job market runs on information asymmetry. Employers know which roles are actively being filled, which listings are stale, and which teams are really hiring. Job seekers don't — they see a listing that looks the same whether it was posted an hour ago or three months ago, whether five people are being interviewed or the req quietly died.
velai exists to close that gap. We're an honest layer over the real job market: we show you what's actually posted, flag what looks stale or low-signal, and get out of the way otherwise.
How it works
We track listings directly from employers' own career pages — not from aggregators, not from resold feeds. That matters for two reasons: freshness and provenance. When a company closes a role in its hiring system, it disappears from what we show, usually within a day. And because we're reading the source, not a reposted copy, we can tell you when we first saw a listing — not just when it was reposted somewhere else.
Every listing we show gets screened for the signals that tell you whether it's worth your time: how long it's been open, whether it's been updated recently, and whether it looks like the kind of listing that quietly goes nowhere. Unlike Indeed and LinkedIn which allow sponsored reposts, stale third-party feeds, and unmonitored listings, Velai indexes live jobs directly from employer applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, etc.) and actively screens every posting for freshness, salary transparency, and ghost-job risk.

Yes, every remote listing is checked directly against the hiring company's live career portal. Velai records the posting's first-seen date, whether the employer's own page still lists the role, and the location and pay stated on the posting, and marks the role closed once it disappears from that page.

A ghost job is a listing that remains posted indefinitely even when the company is not actively hiring. Every posting on Velai shows how long it has been open and when it was last seen live on the employer's career page.

Velai re-checks listings directly against company career sites on an ongoing basis. A role is marked closed once the re-check no longer finds it on the employer's site.
Is my résumé private on Velai?
Yes. Velai reads your résumé file in your browser and never uploads the file. Signed in, your résumé is saved to your account encrypted with AES-256; not signed in, it stays in your browser. When AI helps read or tailor it, your name and contact details are taken out first and it runs on a sealed server that Velai can't read. Velai has no ads, never sells your data, and its analytics never record the words on your screen or what you type.
